Ajja (born Salvador Felix Leu in 1975) is a Swiss psychedelic trance musician, producer, DJ, visual artist, and label manager. He is known for his contributions to the global psytrance scene as both a solo artist and as part of several musical collaborations.

Early Life

[edit]

Ajja was born in London in 1975 into the internationally renowned Leu family of tattoo artists. He is the son of Felix Leu, a pioneer of the modern tattoo movement, and was raised in an artistic, nomadic environment surrounded by visionary and countercultural creatives.[1][2] He began playing guitar at the age of nine and by his teens had composed and recorded over a hundred songs.[3]

Career

[edit]

In the late 1990s, Ajja transitioned from analog to digital music, immersing himself in electronic sound production. In 2003, he co-founded Peak Records, a label dedicated to psychedelic trance music.[4]

His debut solo album Psychogenica was released in 2007, followed by notable releases such as Tulpa (2012) and Spira Mirabilis (2017).[5][6][7]

Ajja is also a founding member of The Peaking Goddess Collective, a live psychedelic band that blends organic instruments with electronic music.

Artistic and Multimedia Work

[edit]

In addition to his music, Ajja is a multidisciplinary artist involved in graphic art, painting, and software development. His upbringing among visionary artists continues to influence his visual and auditory creations.[8]

Ajja was featured in the documentary film Felix, Dare to Dream, which premiered at the Transilvania International Film Festival. In the film, he appears as himself and also composed the original soundtrack.[9][10]

Performances

[edit]

Ajja has played at major international festivals including the O.Z.O.R.A. Festival and Boom Festival.[11] His performances span over two decades and include events like the Halloween Electronic Carnival in Vienna.[12]

His extensive touring is documented in concert archives and music platforms.[13][14]
